1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can start spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jumped chain link in the upper chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

2. Injectors

Yesterday, audikey while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced an abrupt drop in power as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. I put tissue over each hole in the injector and when I start the engine with no sparks, the 3 that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get zero Ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it is running fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temp value that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've eliminated everything else. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a junkyard or in a local parts store.
