Bolaji Olamide, the Remo Stars Ladies striker, says she hopes to test herself on an even bigger stage after winning the NWFL Premiership top scorer award. Scored 15 goals in 19 matches during the 2024/25 season, including 14 in the regular season and one in the Super Six.

The 21 year old former Sunshine Queens forward played a pivotal role in Remo Stars Ladies’ push into the Super Six after their maiden campaign in the topflight.  She said that so consistently has boosted her confidence, and is now hoping that international clubs will come calling.

Olamide also reflected on her growth this season: she believes her work rate, finishing, and support from the coaching staff – especially coach Wemimo Matthew – have been key to her success.  expressed gratitude for being called up to the Super Falcons in October 2024, saying that national exposure has made her even more ambitious.

Editorial

We believe Bolaji Olamide’s achievements this season are evidence not only of raw talent, but of readiness for elevation. Scoring 15 goals in 19 matches across both regular and Super Six phases is a statement performance. It shows consistency, mental strength, and hunger qualities essential if she is to succeed beyond the NWFL Premiership. Her ambition to move abroad is natural, and well earned.

Talent alone does not guarantee success outside Nigeria. But what sets Olamide apart is her discipline, her attitude, and her awareness that finishing well demands more than finishing chances. Her partnership with teammates, her coach’s trust, and the opportunities she has grasped (including national team exposure) suggest she is building a foundation strong enough to handle the pressure of foreign leagues.

There’s also a bigger implication here for women’s football in Nigeria: when players like Olamide emerge and aim higher, it signals to scouts, clubs, and administrators that the NWFL Premiership is fertile ground. If structures are strengthened better training, visibility, pathways abroad—more talents will follow. Her story becomes blueprint rather than anomaly.

We expect that if Olamide navigates her next steps with the same thoughtfulness she’s shown this season, she could be among those who carve successful careers overseas. She has proven she can score; now it’s time to consider what kind of platform will best allow her to shine even brighter. Her Golden Boot might well be the opening chapter of something much larger.
