Young men with new flats, and they’re looking for furniture that will outlast them. A vintage sofa, carries the room.

I sent a set of accent chairs for living room leather to a Grosvenor Square apartment, retro style armchair and the sofa aged but never gave way. This is why old beats new.

They fall for fashion too quickly, but they find themselves in Mayfair again. Fabric frays fast, whereas vintage lasts.

Taste splits by borough. Belgravia looks for tradition, with buttoned wingbacks. Brixton is bold, with colourful sofas. That’s what keeps us alive.

I’ll tell you something else, accent chairs outlive their buyers. You don’t get that from a catalogue.

I still walk my warehouse floors, and the difference is clear. Classic pieces endure.
