Sir Tony Blair has advised Britain to welcome AI doctors and nurses as he said the world was 'in the foothills' of the biggest tranformation because the Industrial Revolution.

The previous prime minister declared AI might have an 'definitely transformative' on civil services by making them better, cheaper and more effective.

He said, if he was in power today, he would be thinking about 'how you reorganise the entire government around how you embrace and gain access to this transformation'.

Speaking at the SXSW celebration in London, Sir Tony said: 'We remain in the foothills of the most transformative revolution because the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century.
