' I have discovered that books can transport kids to another place.' Judith has actually been volunteering as a bedside reader at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust since 2003. After retiring from mentor, Judith wished to continue to use her storytelling skills to assist kids who are inadequately. 'I had always delighted in reading to the kids in school at the end of the day. You might see them noticeably unwind and be taken in by the story. I thought this might also use to kids in hospital. I offer on the children's oncology wards in the hospital. I have seen the interruption checking out a story can do to support the staff. The kids are little heroes. Mark joined the NHS in his 30s after leaving his household's service with no formal certifications, however a drive to make a difference. He started as a psychological health assistance employee and went on to train as a basic nurse. He certified at 37 and invested the next twenty years gradually climbing the ladder. ' I tried to turn off a bedside light and felt like something wasn't ideal with me. I understood quickly it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active vacation kayaking and walking, Bob all of a sudden had a stroke. He was zipped air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he invested 4 weeks rehabilitating. 'I utilized the fitness center often and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehabilitation program for individuals who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured timetable which gave me something to look forward to weekly - socially, psychologically and mentally.' Bob thanked NHS personnel for 'the great assistance' and the continuous physiotherapy he got. Well done Bob and excellent work team! Early acknowledgment of stroke signs can save lives. ' Working alongside nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to believe, 'I might do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she joined Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve patients in Hertfordshire. 'I enjoyed assisting people and discovering about the body, so nursing just felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has actually operated in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy among others, showing the large range of areas in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't believe of a location where nurses don't make an impact in some type,' Sharon admits. On why her role is special, Sharon explains, 'The care, compassion, and compassion we bring make the nursing role special. As patient supporters, we help guarantee their journey is supported, notified, and really significant.' There are more than 50 different types of nursing roles offered in the NHS.
