How to Replace an audi key blade spare audi key fob cost (click here for more info) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

renault-logo-evolution.jpgIt is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

SEAT-Logo-2019.jpgThe sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will display a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing at all. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the three with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car is able to start when the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is plugged in but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid I might have missed something. Let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a junkyard or at a parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that needs to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions about timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you are experiencing issues with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to an engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate gearbox rev counter and gears that shift faster than normal and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely that your sensor is going bad and requires replacement car key audi. The good news is they are quite affordable and readily available, especially if you're looking at an Bosch sensor, like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of your replacement audi key cost uk's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other components in the car to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate fuel, timig and boost and then transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see around 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This part is common across the audi a1 key replacement 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du You may also find some good ones in wrecking yards.
