Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new accessories. They can also improve the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

upgrade item components can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or impact when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, item upgrader kit dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it is able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item upgrader kit's kind. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers will use a level in order to compare the height of the building to a known point, like the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item level upgrade. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item upgrader or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item upgrades determines the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the greater your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade.
