It's quick and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways in just one sweep. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and poop with ease. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.

It's simple to set up and is effective, but it's something you'll have to be aware of in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.

The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that serves as an charging base for the robot vacuum cleaner, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and an 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base has a couple of buttons for control that let you manually start cleaning tasks or recall the robot, or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to toggle the child lock that is a great feature for parents who are worried about children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more precise in finding objects.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as an electrical cord dangling across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you free it. While this was rare, it was a frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't have an "stuck" status alert in its app.

Another potential downside is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This can lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. And it's an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxes.
